Spring/Summer Fashion Trends for 2013

Spring is here! Yes, Spring is here. And Summer is around the corner. So put away your long sleeves, coats, scarves, and boots! Here are the top 5 must have trends for the Spring/Summer 2013 season.

Cut-outs
Rip The Runway

From the Runway to the sidewalk, the cut-out trend has made its way back around to Spring/Summer 2013. This is one trend that any body shape can rock. As long as its done tastefully and the right way, of course. Day or night, cut-outs are flirty and fun.

Try Heart-shaped cut-out rompers or a diamond-shaped cut-out tank top....

...Don't feel like showing cleavage tonight, wear a drape cut-out blouse to show off your sexy back.

...or a sexy dress with cut-outs

Monif C

I absolutely love this dress. This basic body con dress from Monif C is the perfect LBD! Its flattering for any plus-size figure and the peek-a-boo cut-outs at the shoulders give just the right amount of sex appeal. Spanx it up (if necessary) for a smooth silhouette and you will be ready for date night with the boo!

Customize your own cut-outs....

Do you have a bunch of old tees that you don't wear that often anymore? Well, here's a way to bring some new life to your old rags. Crosses, skull heads, slashes, and other creative ideas!... This can be a fun DIY project. There are several Youtube tutorials online to show you how. I think I will attempt this in the near future.

*TIP* - Are you not comfortable with showing bare skin? Pair up your new cutomized tee with a fun, colorful tank top or camisole under the cut-out tee to avoid feeling overexposed.

Patterns & Prints

The whole print on print thing is nothing to be afraid of. Its all about how you style it. Of course, fashion designers style runway models in the most lavish and extravagant way to sell the look. But this trend can read so many things....bold, polished, chic, couture, and daring. Florals, abstract, tribal, aztec, polka dots, stripes, houndstooth, checkered, and other patterns have been popping up everywhere. Why not try something new? Don't let celebs have all the fun with this trend. Soooo, You may be wondering how to style this trend without doing too much? Here you go:

Mixing prints the right way....

When mixing prints, one of the prints has to act as a neutral. If not, everything else will clash with what u put on. The colors should be in the same color family and textures are important to watch for too. Everything down to accessories, make-up, shoes, and hair should be taken into consideration....

Mix it up like a celeb....

Polka on Polka
I absolutely love this outfit. If your not sure where to start with this print on print trend, try this one first. Polka dots as a top or bottom will work in the combination as long as the colors are complimentary toward each other.

              Just like this....Checker & Polka dots! #loveit

To wear Bold lines & Stripes...

Let the lines in the outfit be the main focus. When wearing vertical lines, keep them on the outside of the pant for a elongated look (Especially for us thicker-thigh divas) Keep it simple on top with basic layers like a screen tee & sweater/blazer/vest/jacket or a combination of cropped tanks & accessories.

Stripes on the top...

Layer a striped top or sweater with a denim vest or Statement color blazer....

...and rock it with a Spring-colored pant and a nude pump!

or rock those sexy distressed denim pants and a nude pump!

Leather & Lace

Be feminine and edgy at the same time. Lace and leather detailed garments have been everywhere since Fall/Winter 2012 and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere soon. I know you're probably thinking how is this trend gonna transition into Spring or Summer? It seems that its all about minor details. You don't have to overly do the lace or leather. Don't know where to start? Well take a look at some ideal looks for the season...

Faux Leather this time of year is not like the winter leather at all. Its lightweight and is considered "warm-weather leather" this time. A sleeveless faux leather dress was very popular during fashion week. Like the ones about, you do get good ventilation through the lace detail.

Go for faux leather shorts:

J Brand

Faux leather panel leggings are cool.....

I also fell in love with the  whole leather sweatpants trend. I first saw them when Beyonce wore them in a photoshoot :

Young, fly, and flashy....I love this look! Mrs. Carters' pants are designed by En Noir (Unisex) and retail for $1, 299....

Here's a pair from the new line of Rick Ross' girlfriend Shateria called, FRONTROW:

I love them and apparently her celeb friends love them as well....

Teyana Taylor

I'm still on the hunt for a pair within my budget...  :-)

Tomboy Chic

This trend is one that I can relate to. It has taken off in the past couple of years all thanks to celebs like, Pop Superstar Rihanna, Actress/Model Tae Heckard, and of course Socialite/Rapper Ms. Teyana Taylor. Girls are embracing their boyish ways and trading in their platform heels & stilettos for a comfy pair of Jordans & a cute snapback.

24blogazine.com

Miss Rihanna is a woman of many looks. A true fashionista. She's edgy, risque, head turning, and a real sex symbol. Everybody wants to know what Rihanna is wearing. This style seems to be more of an "in between looks" style for her. She is always caught by the Paps going or leaving somewhere dressed like this. All i know is...in designer heels or Timberland boots...She's one sexy tomboy!

You may think this video vixen/actress is a sex selling eye candy model who is all about showing off her body, but she is not. Tae Heckard's style is unique and versitile for a woman who does all that she does. I love how she does'nt have to pile on the makeup because she is a natural beauty. Under a hat, her hair is still gorgeous curly, wavy, or straight. She's not overly curvy, so this look is flattering for her frame. From following her on Instagram, the Tomboy Chic look seems to be her primary style of choice on her day off.

Teyana Taylor owns this look. Her petite frame and awesome abs give her even more ownership. On any given day, Teyana is always in the baddest gear. Her jewelry, hat game, and most importantly shoe game is off the chain. She's a sneakerhead, no doubt, which gives her the upperhand over any female attempting this look. I love how she keeps it gurly with her jet black wavy tresses, sass it up with her wand-curled ringlets, or her bone straight hair.  You got this gurl....

What do you need to rock this trend?

- Unique accessories like custom hats, skullies, chains, earrings...

-A Flawless face : You still want to look pretty and feminine in the face. Don't be afraid to apply make-up as needed.

*TIP* Emphasize your lips or Eyes. (Glossy lips, nice Lipstick color or a bold defining eye w/liner & mascara) This will turn up the sex appeal needed to take your look up a notch.

-Crop tops, bandeaus, tanks to show off midriff

-Fitted tights, jeans or Baggy pants or shorts, preferably Camo

-Customized Denim jeans or shorts (studs & spikes are great add-ons)

-Layers: jackets, denim shirts, vest are always a go to!

FEM it up with anything detail of cheetah, zebra, neon colored, or leather.

*Bamboo earrings will give you a more "HoodGurl/AroundtheWay" feel...a feeling of empowerment...GIRL POWER! lol

*** Hince the blog's name "boobsandbamboos", Bamboo earrings act as that one pair of hoop earrings that can be worn by any gurl, no matter what race, background, financial status, or circumstance and still give her some kind of attitude and fierceness!

Black & White

Be Bold and Sophisticated! Black and white is simply that, an easy Spring trend that anybody can pull off. You can make it casual, or dress it up for a night out. It can be worn with a pop of color from a nice pair of shoes and matching handbag. What I love about this trend is that you don't have to buy the most expensive pieces to pull off a classic monochromatic look. Also, these are two colors that any and everybody can look good in.

Mini haul #1

Hey Guys, I wanna share with you some things I've picked up in the past 3 months. With Spring around the corner and old man Winter still hanging around, I'm sooooo ready for a change. I think I bought a few staple pieces that may be necessary for transitioning from winter into the Spring/Summer season. When I see things I like at a good price, I buy it and store it away until its time to bring it out. Guess I'm a fashion hoarder....lol

Accessories & Jewelry...

For those who know me, Y'all know I love accessories and jewelry. So conveniently, one of my good friends started an accessories line named Caress Couture. She sells handmade and trendy costume jewelry. I fell in love with a lot of her pieces but 3 main items caught my eye.

Caress Couture LLC

Silky Cheetah print & Black with Mesh star detail Leggings H&M - $12.95

I know this post features things mostly from H&M, but these next few things are my main reason for this haul. Like I said before, Spring and Summer is right around the corner. And what is a haul without tanks and cami's?!? H&M is the best place for basics. All year round, various colors and styles are available. I love black basics and that's just what i bought.

Tank dress $12.95
Cami $5.95
Long Tank $5.95
Short tank $5.95

Great for layering...Can blend in with shapewear & undergarments... all at Great prices!

Make-up...

I haven't really bought any new makeup that I would love to brag alot about besides these cheapy everyday lipsticks I wear when I don't wanna wear my good stuff all the time. Y'all may have seen this brand before in your local beauty supply store, NK , NICKA K. The quality isn't bad at all and all the lipsticks come with Vitamin E, so it doesn't dry or leave your lips chapped or cracked.

The colors are nice as well. Great pigment! Since mauves, pinks, lavenders, and purples are trending colors for this time of year... I decided to try all 4 of these colors. -$1.49 each

Top to Bottom: 990- Moody Blue, 800- Beach Fuchsia, 301- Lavender Tint, 303 - Fuchsia

I love this mascara. Black. - $5.99 -  My everyday mascara. It has a nice brush, non clumpy formula, and its thin tipped brush allows you to comb through your lashes without error. Kinda reminds me of a low-end mascara of Chanel Inimitible.

its all in the brush...Chanel's Inimitable mascara - $30 -

For you divas on a budget, I highly suggest you give NYX LONG LASH MASCARA a try.

Ok y'all.. til next time...
